Local Knowledge

What Field Club Homeowners Should Know

Field Club sits just south of Leavenworth Street near Hanscom Park, roughly between 32nd and 36th Streets, and takes its name from the Omaha Field Club that once anchored the area. Much of the neighborhood is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as the Field Club Historic District, and its tree-lined streets are filled with homes built between the 1890s and the 1930s.

The architecture here is some of the most varied in Omaha. Colonial Revivals, Tudor Revivals, Prairie-style homes, American foursquares, and Craftsman bungalows sit side by side. Many have steep hip and gable roofs, multiple dormers, tall brick chimneys, and original board-sheathed decking. Those details look great, but they create valleys, chimney flashing, and dormer walls where most leaks begin.

Field Club also has one of the densest mature tree canopies in the city, especially along the Field Club Trail. Shade, falling limbs, and leaf buildup mean more moss, clogged gutters, and wind damage than newer neighborhoods see. We recommend materials that fit the historic look of the district, pay close attention to ventilation and decking on older homes, and help homeowners with hail and wind damage insurance claims.

Siding & James Hardie

Siding in Field Club, Omaha

Field Club homes often pair brick or stucco with original wood clapboard and cedar shake on dormers, gables, and porches, while many foursquares were covered in aluminum or vinyl decades ago. Constant shade, Nebraska hail, and freeze-thaw cycles lead to peeling paint, rot, and moisture behind the walls. New siding protects the structure while keeping the historic look of the district.

As a certified installer, we specialize in James Hardie fiber cement siding, which offers traditional lap and shingle profiles that suit older homes while standing up to Nebraska weather. Explore our full range of siding services or request a free estimate.

Profiles That Fit
