Why It Matters

The Easiest Way to a More Comfortable Home

Your attic is where most of your home's heat escapes in winter and where most of the summer heat comes in. If the insulation is thin, settled, or damp, your furnace and air conditioner work harder and the rooms below never feel quite right.

Many Omaha homes were built with a fraction of the insulation recommended today, and what was installed has settled over the decades. Topping it up is one of the most cost-effective home improvements you can make.

We inspect, air seal, and insulate attics across the Omaha metro, as a stand-alone upgrade or alongside a roof replacement.

Omaha is in climate zone 5, where the recommended attic insulation level is R-49 to R-60, about 14 to 18 inches of blown-in insulation. Many older homes have R-19 or less. Bringing your attic up to the recommended level, after sealing air leaks and installing ventilation baffles, lowers heating and cooling costs, evens out room temperatures, and helps prevent ice dams.

What We Do

Insulation, Air Sealing, and Airflow Together

Insulation only performs when the attic is sealed and still able to breathe.

Blown-In Insulation

We blow fiberglass or cellulose insulation evenly across the attic floor to the recommended depth. It fills gaps around framing, wiring, and pipes, and it can go right on top of existing insulation.

  • Fiberglass or cellulose
  • R-49 to R-60 coverage
  • Added over existing insulation
  • Even, measured depth

Air Sealing

Before insulating, we seal the gaps that let warm, moist air leak into the attic. This step makes the insulation more effective and helps stop the condensation that leads to mold and ice dams.

  • Top plates and wall gaps
  • Plumbing and wiring penetrations
  • Light fixtures and chases
  • Insulated attic hatch

Baffles & Ventilation

We install baffles in every rafter bay at the eaves so insulation never blocks your soffit vents. Your attic stays insulated below and ventilated above, the way it is supposed to work.

  • Rafter vent baffles
  • Clear soffit intake
  • Works with ridge vents
  • Protects shingle warranty

Signs Your Attic Needs More Insulation

Insulation problems are easy to miss because you rarely see your attic. If you notice any of these, it's worth a free inspection.

  • Heating and cooling bills that keep climbing
  • Upstairs rooms that are hot in summer and cold in winter
  • Ice dams and heavy icicles along the eaves
  • Insulation level with or below the tops of the floor joists
  • Drafts, cold ceilings, or a furnace that runs constantly
  • Damp, matted, or discolored insulation

Why Nebraska Homes Need a Well-Insulated Attic

Omaha sees both extremes. Winter nights regularly drop below zero, and summer attics can top 150°F. A thin layer of insulation can't hold back that kind of temperature swing, so your HVAC system ends up doing the work instead.

Winter is also when poor insulation damages your roof. Heat leaking into the attic warms the roof deck, melts snow from below, and the meltwater refreezes at the cold eaves. Those ice dams can force water back under your shingles and into your ceilings.

Proper insulation and air sealing keep the heat in your living space, where it belongs, and keep the roof deck cold and dry.

Insulation and ventilation work as a team. Insulation keeps heat in the house, while ventilation clears heat and moisture out of the attic. Add insulation without baffles and you can choke off your soffit vents, trapping moisture against the roof deck. We check both on every attic so one never undermines the other.

One Crew, One Visit

Pair Insulation With Your Roof Replacement

A roof replacement is a great time to look at your attic. While our crew is already on site, we can check insulation depth, seal leaks, install baffles, and update ventilation so your new roof and attic work together from day one.

It also protects your investment. CertainTeed and other manufacturers require a properly ventilated attic to honor their shingle warranties, and the right insulation setup keeps that airflow open.
