We hope you and your family have had a safe and fun holiday season! This time of year is one of our favorites here at Royalty. It’s a great opportunity to reflect on the past year and to look forward to the year ahead. We pause to appreciate all we have, and to express our gratitude for awesome customers like you!
However, we know that this time of year is not as fun or special for many who are struggling in our city. This year, we took the opportunity to get involved with a few different organizations that are working in our community to help spread some good.
Earlier in the month, we worked with Frontier Bank to gather donations of new, unwrapped toys for the Abide Omaha Better Together Christmas Store. The Better Together Christmas Store creates an opportunity for parents in North Omaha to shop for their children at an affordable price. Families save money, but also gain a sense of dignity as they choose and purchase the gifts they want for their children at 75% off retail prices. We recruited the help of our awesome customers, and together we donated over 100 toys!
Last week, we also had the opportunity to work with the great folks at the Open Door Mission sorting toys for their shopping center. Members of our staff also spent time helping parents shop for Christmas presents for their children. The Open Door Mission’s Christmas Program is called Project Santa. This program functions much like the Better Together Christmas Store and allows parents to purchase gifts for their children ages newborn to 12 years old.
Just this week, we volunteered at the Foodbank for the Heartland sorting and boxing up food that will go to other local food pantries. The Foodbank for the Heartland distributes food to 600 food pantries, schools, emergency shelters and other nonprofit partners across the metro. They are the largest food bank in Nebraska and Iowa, serving 93 counties in the two-state region.
We share all of this not to toot our own horn, but to encourage you to get out into our community and share some love this holiday season. There are tons of great organizations like Abide, the Open Door Mission, and Foodbank for the Heartland who are doing so much to support those in need all around Omaha. We are proud to be able to do just a little bit to help assist their efforts.
